IOI Alumni CPD Online Series:  Webinar Q1 2024: WHERE SKIES AND SEAS MEET: CLIMATE AND OCEAN INTERDEPENDENCE IN POLICYMAKING -  February 2024
The first IOI Alumni CPD webinar in the 2024 series explored the crucial relationship between climate change and Ocean sustainability and policy making post-COP28. Experts discussed the evolving Ocean governance frameworks, current adaptation strategies, and fisheries resilience in the light of new climate challenges.

IOI is represented at the preparatory meetings for the UN Summit of the Future (September 2024); Geneva; January, February
The IOI supports the Summit of the Future and the planned outcomes, and engages with the preparatory process as a Non-governmental Organisation in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council since 2007. IOI Representatives report on the meetings attended in preparation for the UN Summit of the Future.

IOI Panellist at the First International Conference of IMU on Coastal Communities and Marine Pollution, 2nd February
The conference organised by the Indian Maritime University sought to bring together different stakeholders to consider the impacts of marine pollution on coastal communities. IOI contributed to Panel Discussion 2 “Coastal Communities - a Responsibility of Industry and Academia” on the importance of cultivating Ocean Literacy at all levels for all stakeholders.

Thai Delegation Courtesy Visit to IOI Headquarters; 25 January 2024
The IOI was honoured to receive a visit of the Royal Thai Delegation at IOI HQ in Malta. The Delegation headed by Dr Kamol Rodklai, Chief of the Member of the Secretariat to the Deputy Minister of Education of Thailand, discussed topics of mutual interest in the development of capacity, training and education in Ocean thematics in the Kingdom of Thailand and the region.
