IOI Egypt celebrates the 50th Anniversary of IOI under the auspices of its host institute NIOF, 1st November, 2022
IOI Egypt, supported by host institute the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries of Egypt, NIOF, organised a special event to commemorate the IOI’s 50 years since its founding by Elisabeth Mann Borgese in 1972 and to recognise the input and dedication of key local persons over the years.

Webinar: Was 2022 truly the "Ocean Super Year" we hoped for?
The IOI in partnership with the ECOP Programme hosted this webinar in order to highlight the outcomes of the UN Ocean Conference, Intergovernmental Conference on Marine Biodiversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction and the latest reflections from COP27; followed by a debate with ECOPs and Ocean experts on whether 2022 was truly the Ocean Super Year we hoped for.

Special Seminar: Ocean Governance - A Legacy Interrupted
This seminar aimed to address global concerns regarding the current impasse in the sustainable management of the Ocean and how the future of Ocean governance depends on the effectiveness of holistic, cooperative management, and most importantly, urgent and sustained action to address complex marine issues.

IOI Training Workshop on Basic Concepts of Ocean Governance for Early Career Ocean Professionals, with a focus on African Seas

Launch of the 16th IOI Malta Training Programme on Regional Ocean Governance for the Mediterranean, Black, Baltic and Caspian Seas, 7 Nov - 7 Dec 2022
Following a two-year hiatus imposed by the COVID pandemic on in-person training, the annual five-week IOI Malta Training Course on Regional Ocean Governance Course has kicked off with its sixteenth in-person offering in Malta launched during a ceremony presided over by Prof Awni Behnam (Honorary President of the IOI and Training Course Director) on the 7th of November.
